Somebody just gave me a shower radio. Thanks a lot. Do you really want music in the shower? I guess there’s no better place to dance than a slick surface next to a glass door. —Jerry Seinfeld
Marching is pretty safe, but dancing can be dangerous. You could trip and fall, and others might point and criticize as you move into new freedoms. It really helps to know that, in Christ, we already have the A. But do we really know this? I mean, is it a deep-down truth in your soul? Paul prayed that it would be!
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God. (Colossians 1:9-10)
He clarifies what he prays we will know a couple of verses later:
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation. (Colossians 1:21-22)
Wow. Talk about a reversal! We once felt like we had a big fat F because we were alienated, and enemies in our minds. But we tried our hardest and turned things around, right? Nope. We dance freely and safely because of what He did. Oh, the joy of resting in the finished work of Jesus and the ongoing work of His Spirit!
Oh Spirit, let me rest in the fact that I am holy, without blemish, and free from accusation today and always. Amen.
